Some More About My Book

From the back cover of Winning Over Shame–Overcoming Sexual, Emotional, and Psychological Abuse

Are you ready to release the shame you hold because of someone else’s sins? This book can help.

Winning Over Shame follows the life of Debi Adams. From unrelenting sexual, emotional, and psychological abuse as a child to a 12-year relationship that gradually grew to mirror that early life.

After her marriage imploded, Debi was on her own for the first time. She searched with great diligence for purpose and meaning. After several failed careers, she lost hope in the future.

She spent 3 months in hospital partial programs, intent on proving there was no hope. She prepared herself to die.

Instead, she found the possibility of going to college. She enrolled on-line and earned a BA in psychology.

The hospital partial program offered Debi a support group. Between that and therapy, Debi gradually felt safe enough to challenge all the abuse had instilled in her.

Debi developed healthy relationships for the first time.

The book ends with a triumphant day when Debi experienced happiness untinged from the pain and shame that had been her constant companions.

Debi continues to mature and grow. She frequently has happy days. Most especially, she has the tools, tools she shares, to face down shame whenever it tries to creep back in.

You will discover tools to use in the moment over emotional overwhelm and the hope that lies within every adult through play. From self-hypnosis to learning to have relationships on different levels. Debi explored them all, and happily offers her life to you as an example of what can be.

If you believe such freedom is impossible, Debi offers the challenge. Simply open the book. She doesn’t promise it will be easy. Simply that winning over shame is possible.
